After decades of suffering through poor baseball played in the cavernous, cold Cleveland Stadium, fans were blessed with a Camden Yards-style classic when Jacobs Field (now Progressive Field) was opened on April 4, 1994. The launch of the quirky, open-air beauty in the heart of downtown Cleveland coincided with a great new era in Indians baseball, as the team turned around their fortunes immediately and became a World Series contender for the rest of the decade. From the Ontario Street/Carnegie Avenue faade, to the wide Home Plate concourse, to the intricate exterior steel column skeleton, to the asymetrical outfield dimensions, to the packed stands and crowded concourse in the left-field corner, to the bleachers, bullpens, and scoreboard, to the neighboring skyscrapers in the background, this amazing poster features all that is Jacobs Field, from a unique overhead view.
