This rare & stunning British double crown original film poster from December 1969 was printed in England by Lonsdale & Bartholomew (Nottingham) Ltd. The UK double crown is half the size of the British quad film poster and as such is very desirable for display. When Sean Connery vacated the role of 007 George Lazenby made it clear that he would become James Bond for one film only and this resulted in a poster campaign different from any other as the film company were not keen on advertising the actors face which is often obscured from view and even displays a blank face on the US poster style A. This UK double crown was produced in very small numbers and features a full length pose with James Bond sporting gun and silencer in one hand with martini glass in the other looking nonchalant and in full skiing outfit. The film title is not mentioned and this poster is designed as a teaser with many being lost for good as they were pasted to the corners and double-decker buses to advertise the forthcoming film. The UK double crown is particularly desirable as it features the artwork taken from the French film poster but is very British with the wording! We have seen very white clean examples of this film poster which for us do not have the character of the example offered for sale here which we bought directly from a cinema owner in Malta. The poster has many faults including historic tape marks and a closed tear as seen on the mid left border. Together with two other small snags which we have repaired with archival restoration tape to the reverse. There is a historic water stain at the mid left and the poster has brown marks and an aged creamy look. If you like your posters to have had a life and a history then this is definitely one for you and very reasonably priced.
