Directly behind the Eiffel Tower is the Trocadero Palace with its curved wings. To the right in the distance is the Arc de Triomphe which was commissioned in 1806 by Napoleon and is the worlds largest triumphal arch. Arc de Triomphe is located on Avenue des Champs-Elysees, a ten-lane wonder flanked by cafes and luxury shops. In the foreground is the brightly lit and domed Hotel des Invalides, constructed in 1670 to receiveold or wounded officers and soldiers.
