About the Artist: Maria Watson-Trudgett

Maria Watson-Trudgett is a Koori woman of Wiradyuri people and freshwater Country in NSW. She is a self-taught artist and paints in acrylics. Her artworks express her connection to her Culture, family and Country.Her painting style is a contemporary fusion of abstract art and cultural motifs. She uses flowing lines and groups of traditional Aboriginal symbols, which echo the way her old people communicated to her, while drawing symbols and impressions into the ground. Maria shares elements of her culture via her artworks.
