HEIDIS SONG (1982): Based on the novel Heidi by Johanna Spyri. According to Leonard Maltin, Hanna and Barbera pointed to this production as their commitment to quality animation (in contrast to their Saturday Morning product) Of Mice and Magic, A History of American Animated Cartoons. And it shows. The detail of the artwork in this feature is amazing. Every cel and every character and background is reminiscent of the work of Disney as opposed to Hanna Barbera. The drawings and backgrounds in particular are even more detailed than the final cels.
