This panorama of downtown Pittsburgh, taken by James Blakeway, showcases one of the unique features of this city, known as the”City of Bridges.” Located at the source of the Ohio and at the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers, Pittsburgh has over 700 bridges within the city limits. These rivers supported the proliferation of the city’s rich mineral resources, adding “City of Steel” to its moniker. Pittsburgh also enjoys a rich sports history with three major league sports teams and many athletic university programs. Featured on the left is Heinz Field, home to the Pittsburgh Steelers andbelow Heinz Field is PNC Park, home to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
